Do you know why your mouth gets watery when you see a dessert you really like? 😋
It’s because of your salivary glands, which release saliva.
These glands are spread out inside your mouth. Sometimes, if a gland gets hurt — like eating something hard or bumping the area under your tongue — it can get split or damaged, forming a little bubble called a ranula.
It’s like when a sink is blocked and the water can’t flow to the tub — it just stays in the sink!
Ranulas usually don’t hurt. Sometimes they go away on their own, but other times dentists need to take care of them.
